Comments: Moving Harvard?

Hmmm ... Berry's got 26,000 acres. Maybe we could share a few with Prof. Mankiw.

Harvard is a tax exempt institution that both provides and receives many benefits from the state and towns. It does make some payments in place of taxes, but I wonder how these compare to what it would pay if it were a for-profit institution.

For all I know it is paying only a small fraction of what profitable firms pay. Do you have any idea what it provides Mass. and Cambridge for the very important services it receives and how it compares to what a for-profit firm would pay?

You do notice don't you that Mankiw does not bring up this subject. I wonder why?

"I doubt my alma mater could credibly threaten to move to Atlanta, Seattle, or Los Angeles"

Yeah, but we can always hope right, Art?
