Comments: The Mexican corn paradox

I think I've heard of this with other crops too, except it was in Africa. Can't remember which crop. Anyway, it might be due to some sort of 'humanitarian aid' package, where excess crops from the US are sent to developing nations.

When the 'free' supply hits the local economies, it depresses the prices for local farmers.

Sad situation, really.
