What? We can't hear you
An owner of Apple Computer Inc.'s iPod music player filed a federal lawsuit against the computer maker, claiming the device causes hearing loss in people who use it. Damn. My kick-butt 1GB mp3 player (which runs for 10 hours or so on 1 AAA battery) was made by some "company" in Japan, but I couldn't tell you which one as I purchased it for $120 on e-bay two years ago. Alas, in the Age of the Lawyer, strategic purchasing, embodied in the act of paying more for a lower quality product that, after all, is made by a deep-pocket Fortune 500 company, might actually make sense if the ability to sue is deemed necessary.
